We went on a youth mission trip toTsushima, Japan, where pioneer evangelism had started in 2012. At first, we visited the neighborhood with leaflets about the seminar. People welcomed us with smiles. This showed that Mr. Kurihara, who is in charge of Tsushima Company, has a good relationship there.
We held Vacation Bible School (VBS) for the children and a 3-day seminar for adults. About ten children came for VBS. They learned about Jesus through games, craft-work, and stories. The theme of the seminar was “Comfortable Human Relationships,” and the visitors listened attentively to the three pastors who gave lectures and spoke with passion. There was a time for fellowship after the seminars.
These are the comments of some participants: “Since the mission trip was very short, I was not able to convey everything I wanted to share. I would like to go back to Tsushima and help with the missionary work.”
“I was able to pray together with a grandmother. She had suffered back pain for a long time. She asked me to pray for her again since the previous prayer had lightened the pain,so I was able to visit and pray for her. I cannot forget this experience.”
Although this was a short-term project, the participants experienced the joy of ministry as they evangelized to others. We pray that the missionary spirit, which sprouted in the summer, will continue to grow.
