The Pathfinder and Adventurer Camporee of Hong Kong-Macao Conference

The Pathfinder and Adventurer Camporee of the Hong Kong-Macao Conference (HKMC) was held from December 27 to 30, 2015, at a beautiful resort campsite in Sai Kung, Hong Kong. About200 Pathfinders and Adventurers gathered together to experience “the Power of One,” which was the theme of the camporee.

At the opening ceremony, two youth ministries directors, Pastor Kim NakHyung from the Northern Asia-Pacific Division and Pastor Fung Chun Kit Alphon from the Chinese Union Mission, welcomed the participants and encouraged them to be united in Christ. Pastor Kim expressed his gratitude to the Union’s former youth ministries coordinator Elder Kao HarnHuei Ernest, who served faithfully in youth ministries for more than five years.

The speakers for the camporee were Pastor Siu KaKei Timothy, Pastor Fung TszKin Andrew, and Pastor Dai Man Kit Ken, the current HKMC youth ministries director. In addition to the theme talks, the camporee also prepared various honors classes, which includedleather craft, geocaching, decoupage, music, and signlanguage.

Pathfinder members gained tremendous knowledge and joy from these honors classes. One of the most interesting programs was the Marching and Drilling training. It wasa good time for the Pathfindersto learn more about the spirit of being soldiers for Christ.

Outdoor survival challenges were also prepared, from which the young people could learn about ropes and knots, how to safely use an axe andknife, camp furniture building, fire building, and so on.Three or four Pathfinders would form a group to take on the challenges.

On the last night of the camporee, we had a night-walk consisting of 15 kilometers for the entire journey. The Pathfinders were very excited, and they had fun doing various tasks during the walk.

The Adventurer program, which is aimed at children ages 6 to 9, provided chances for the Adventurers to learn how to love their friends, families, and Jesus. All of the programs were led by the 15th batch of the Master Guild Training team and the leaders from the Pathfinder Leadership Award program.

By the grace of God, the camporee was a success. The Pathfinders learned about the “Power of One”, and they made friends with members from other clubs and learned more skills and honors. At the closing ceremony, Pastor Kim invited everyone to prepare for and join the Division-wide camporee, which will be heldin Taiwan next year.
