Adventist Collegians with Tidings (ACT) ministry is a Public Campus Ministry (PCM) that started in Korea 50 years ago. Recently it was also organized in Europe with a new vision. The first PCM-ACT gathering of Koreans studying in Europe was held at the Korean Adventist Church in Vienna, Austria, from April 18 to 21, 2019. This was a historic moment for them to gather together in one place for campus ministry.
The theme of the retreat was “I Will Come by You into Spain,” which connects to the verse found in Romans 15:28. Twenty-seven participants from all across Europe, including Austria, Italy and Hungary, came and discovered God’s plan and vision for them through the Adventist faith. The meeting was held with the purpose of helping Korean college students to grow their faith and to promote campus ministry in Europe.
The event started with an opening program led by Pastor Hahm MinHo, the senior pastor of the Korean Adventist Church in Vienna. Pastor Kim NakHyung, youth director of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division, and Pastor Yoo KyungHo, associate youth director of the Korean Union Conference, delivered spiritual messages in the morning and in the afternoon. The praise team was organized by students majoring in music, and the worship was full of spirit and joy.
Special programs, such as small group activities and sightseeing in Vienna, enriched this meeting. The students were divided into small groups to earnestly share their personal concerns and difficulties of faith and seeking God’s guidance. Travelling in Vienna for four days helped them build friendships.
During this event, the PCM student board members were selected, and the attendees established the framework for future activities.
Lee JooHye, a member of the Korean Adventist Church in Vienna, said, “The enthusiastic sermons by the invited speakers from Korea were very helpful to the international students studying in Europe. The gathering was successfully completed thanks to the dedication and service of the church members and young people.” She also hopes that Korean PCM in Europe will fulfill its mission with a vision in Christ.
