The Korean Union Conference (KUC) held its 35th session at Sahmyook Central Church from December 7 to 9, 2015. The theme was “Let us return to the Lord.” A total of 588 delegates from all over Korea along with other guests were in attendance.
During this session, Pastor Hwang ChoonKwang was chosen as the new KUC president. Pastor Shin YangHee was appointed as executive secretary. Pastor Lee ShinYeon, KUC treasurer, will continue at his position.
“Faith arises from carefully listening. I hope Korean Adventists pay more attention to Jesus and become closer to Him. If we reach out our faithful hands to Jesus, there will be a happy future before us,” said Pastor Hwang, the new president, speaking to the delegates.
“I could recognize your devotion through the quinquennial report of each department and institution during the last session in spite of the difficult situation of the church,” remarked NSD president Jairyong Lee. “As we return to our fields, let us be armed with faith so that we can accomplish the tasks the Lord has given to us.”
Before closing worship, the management committee suggested many items, such as the evaluation and future plans for the Local District Mission Associations, school churches, institutional churches, future plan for lay leaders’ churches, recovery of identification in Adventist education, mission strategies for people in their thirties and forties, and activating a mission plan for North Korea.
