Taiwan Adventist Hospital Celebrates 60th Anniversary

Taiwan Adventist Hospital was established in 1955 by Dr. Harry Miller. It has been 60 years since its inception. In the traditional sense of Chinese society, the 60th anniversary is considered important. Our goal is to turn over a new leaf, move to a higher level in 2015, and earn a new spotlight in Taiwan.

By the Holy Spirit, we will be able to stand out above our peers in Taiwan. Here we want to thank our God for His faithfulness for leading and guiding us in the right direction. As we celebrate the 60th anniversary, we remember those who have dedicated themselves at this institution. They are the pioneers who have built up the cornerstone for hospital growth.

To pursue corporate sustainability, we will continue to work hard physically and spiritually with each helping hand to become the role model of church hospitals. In pursuit of quality and patient safety, Taiwan Adventist Hospital acquired JCI (Joint Commission International) approval in 2012, and we will head for the second in 2015.

To ensure workplace safety, we acquired OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) and TOSHMS (Taiwan Occupational Safety and Health Management System) certification in 2015 to safeguard our facilities. We exhibit Christian spirit and touch on some areas that our peers are reluctant to address. For example, environment protection, magnet workplace and health care with do-no-harm are all our social responsibilities.

On March 26, 2015, right after the regular hospital board meeting, we invited the board members to participate in a special 60th anniversary ceremony in front of the Health Management building. Dr. Jairyong Lee, president of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) who also serves as our board chair, gave a speech as guest of honor to thank all hospital staff for their tireless efforts to make this hospital a distinguished regional hospital in Taiwan.

He also challenged all staff to continue to strive for excellence for the good reputation of Taiwan Adventist Hospital. After the ceremony, Dr. Lee and Dr. Huang Hui-ting, president of Taiwan Adventist Hospital, cut the birthday cake, and all hospital staff stood up and sang the “Happy Birthday” song. The senior medical doctors served cake and ice cream to the staff.

The following are future prospects for Taiwan Adventist Hospital:
From 2015 to 2017

  • 1. JCI Accreditation International Gold Seal
  • 2. To seek more third-party reviews and validation for quality service and safety
  • 3. Steady increase of revenue from medical tourism
  • 4. To develop cutting edge medical technology
  • 5. To set up a multi-purpose Health Information Cloud

From 2018 to 2020

  • 1. To pursue Magnet Hospital Certification
  • 2. To establish a comprehensive Cancer Care Center

Through all these efforts, Taiwan Adventist Hospital will show improvements day by day and year by year.
