SWKC Leads Summer Project on Biblical Sexuality Education

The South West Korean Conference(SWKC) hosted the 2025 Summer Vacation Faith Project – Biblical Sexuality Education from August 9 to 23 at its headquarters in Gwangju, Korea. The Family Ministries and Children’s Ministries departments organized the program, which welcomed 16 participants.

With the theme “Created in God’s Image,” the project helped children and parents develop a biblical worldview on sexuality and relationships. An Adventist academy chaplain, the Family Ministries director, the Children’s Ministries director, a deacon, and pastors’ wives formed the teaching team.

The program covered topics such as identity and existence, God’s gift of man and woman, dating and marriage, true love and waiting, homosexuality, and protection from digital sexual crimes, sexual violence, and pornography. Each session ended with practical applications and parent–child discussions.

A highlight of the initiative was the Purity Commitment Ceremony, during which students shared their personal resolutions. Many students pledged to resist pornography, remember that early romantic feelings are not true love, and live with a creation-based worldview. One student, who had previously viewed marriage negatively due to family circumstances, testified that she now wished to embrace marriage as a gift from God.

Parents also responded with gratitude. One mother reflected, “This program was not only for my child, but also for me. It reshaped my understanding of my relationship with God, my husband, and my family. It was a much-needed experience.”

Organizers emphasized that while the church often prioritizes Sabbath education, teachings on marriage and sexuality remain insufficient. “Parents must first embrace biblical values themselves so they can guide and protect their children. This kind of training is essential for both generations,” they said.

By integrating education for both children and parents, the South West Korean Conference went beyond knowledge-sharing and created an experience of God’s love and purpose in relationships. Many participants expressed their desire for similar initiatives to take place regularly in the future.
