SDA Fair Mission held a workshop called “Big City Mission and Direction & Vision for Fair Mission.” The workshop took place at Deer Mountain Retreat Center from January 22 to 24, 2016. Five speakers from the Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) and the Korean Union Conference (KUC) presented lectures. In spite of the small number of participants due to a cold front and sudden heavy snow, the venue was hot with the ardor of the attendees.
“The success of fair mission depends on the connection with local churches,” said Pastor Lee ByungJu, an SDA Fair Mission chaplain and director of KUC Sabbath school and personal ministries department. “When we think of mission for big cities, evangelism through fair activities seems to have a bright prospect.”
At the Sabbath worship service, Pastor Han SukHee, NSD communication director, gave a sermon on identity and direction for SDA Fair Mission. He provided biblical and historical support from the Bible and the Spirit of the Prophecy. “Fair mission activity is an attractive and effective mission trend that seeks interests among modern city people who are familiar with conventional culture.”
Pastor Joo MinHo, NSD assistant to the president, gave a special lecture on habits of those who meet Jesus on Sabbath afternoons. He thanked the mission for their service, saying “evangelism is to testify of the living God and the world is not worthy of His witnesses.”
Pastor Choi ByunGeun, former Korean Publishing House president remarked, “Jesus’ service in Capernaum is full of suggestions for fair mission. I am also going to be a volunteer worker for this mission.”
“Fair mission missionaries should be a blessing. Remember that many people will be saved through this service when we focus on evangelizing others,” said Pastor Seo KwangSoo, former Sahmyook University president, encouraging missionaries during the commitment service.
Mrs. Jeong KyungIm, a missionary from Incheon Nambu Church, shared her experience of repentance and her resolution. “My misunderstandings and doubts disappeared during the workshop, and I could not help but dissolve into tears. I clearly realized that the Holy Spirit has led the mission, and I will keep on trying my best to bear the mission the Lord has given to me.”
Direction and vision for big city mission and fair mission became more apparent through the three-day workshop. Participants pledged that they would work with true repentance and new resolution so that the revival that took place during the apostolic age through the early rain of the Holy Spirit could once again come alive in this age.
