Prayer, Power, and Participation: The Women’s International Day of Prayer in Pakistan

On March 2, 2024, the Women’s International Day of Prayer was observed in the Pakistan Union Section. Under the theme “Prayer Ignites: Change, Hope, Unity,” churches across Pakistan joined in celebrating this day with well-organized programs, inviting the community to partake in this special day dedicated to prayer and fellowship.

The International Day of Prayer provides a platform for women to understand and pray for one another. It is a day marked globally in the church calendar dedicated to encouraging prayer in every church, promoting unity among women as they reconnect with God and reinforce their spiritual bonds within the community.

During the event, women from the Pakistan Union Section came together, reaffirming their commitment to a life of prayer and their dedication to supporting the surrounding communities through intercession. A notable aspect of this year’s gathering was the increased participation of women, surpassing that of the previous year. Raquel Arrais, the director of the NSD Women’s Ministries department, commented, “Pakistani Adventist women are remarkably active. They relish the opportunity to pray and socialize with their neighbors and are enthusiastically involved in community events. Despite their own needs, these women find joy in sharing with one another and are deeply committed to their families.”
