On November 17~18, 2012,the Pathfinders“Junior Basic Staff Training Course” (JBSTC) was held at TaegangSahmyook Elementary School. From students to lecturers, all wore the Pathfinder uniform. The training sessions consisted of“Mental Education”,“Teen Leadership”, “Function of theUniform and Brooch”, “Pathfinder Camping Rules”, and “Knotting.”All courses were finished with a comprehensive examination, and the students received a certificate.

The JBSTC isthe Korean version of Teen Leadership Training (TLT) which was created by the General Conference(GC) for teenagers. The JBSTC has changed the paradigm that Pathfinder activitiesare only centered on elementary school students, and now includesmiddle school students, as well. In short, this has paved the way for an extension of the Pathfinder’s ages.

There were 23 participants this year, with 22 people completing the whole course.
Pastor Oh, Beomsuck, Youth Director for the West Central Korean Conference, preached that “it is very regrettable that many people think that Pathfinders is only for elementary school students. I hope through the JBSTC, our middle school students also receive agood church education, and become good leaders in this church after their time in Pathfinders.”
