We surely know that Seventh-Day Adventist Church is in the last people of God that are to carry out God’s mission to spread the Gospel till the end of the world. God wants the entire church to get involved in reaching people of all walks of life with the Gospel message. (Review and Herald, January 17, 1893)
In this great task and God’s Great Commission, we are so sure that one of the effective instrumentalities to spread the gospel is the Ministries through the Literatures that are published in our publishing houses guided by God’s grace. E.G. White wrote that “Instruction has been given me that the important books containing the light that God has given regarding Satan’s apostasy in heaven should be given a wide circulation just now; for through them the truth will reach many minds.”(The Colporteur Evangelists, 21)
The motto of Publishing Ministries Department is “Bring Hope into Every Home” like never before! To enhance these important ministries and plan strategies to accomplish it in our Division territory, Publishing Policy Review Committee and Division Publishing Strategy Committee convened at Division’s office from January 20 to 23th, 2014.
12 delegates from all unions, KUC, JUC, CHUM, and division attached conference and mission, TWC and MM, besides Korean Publishing House, Japan Publishing House, and Signs of the Times Publishing Association, gathered together to the table of discussion and learning. Being guided by Elder Howard G. Faigao, GC Publishing Ministries Department Director, Pr. Fukui, Division Publishing Director, presided the Committees.
All the recommendations that were made by this committee for the correction of NSD Publishing Policy were submitted to the Division Publishing Committee that convened in between these two committees to check and see the legitimacy of all the recommendations, being chaired by Dr. Suzuki, the executive secretary of NSD, and assisted by the presence of Dr. JooMinHo, assistant to NSD president, Mr. LyuDongJin, vice-treasurer, and Pr. Kwon JongHaeng, director of Adventist Mission.
When all of the delegates and Division director together reviewed Publishing Policies and tried to lay strategy, it was a great experience of learning and invigoration to enhance our ministries. All of us studied the Policies and discussed to make it more applicable and practical to support our ministries in each Union Conference.
Also, since 2014 was designated as Year of the Literature Evangelist, Publishing Ministries Departments in NSD Territory decided to emphasize the importance of Literature Evangelism and Evangelists, and encourage all of our church members to take parts in special initiatives in this occasion such as Global Leaves which is to distribute 1 billion copies of our literatures that contain the Gospel messages around the world and Bi-Division LE Congress which is to encourage Literature Evangelists and honor their dedication.
God’s message should be proclaimed within our last generation of this earth. And according to the prophecy, Our Literatures must take the important role of this mission given to us. And Publishing Ministries in Northern Asia-Pacific Division is ready to take this role and go for God’s Mission.
