NSD, Pioneer Mission Movement Celebrated its 20th Anniversary with an Alumni Reunion

The Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) Adventist Mission Department successfully hosted the PMM 20th Anniversary Reunion at Sonomun Resort in Danyang County, Chungbuk from June 18-20. Attended by approximately 80 individuals, including Elder Kim Tae Seung, NSD treasurer, and Park JeongTaek, the Korean Union Conference secretary and the event brought together PMM pastors and their spouses for a memorable gathering.

In his opening remarks, Kim YoHan, President of NSD, expressed, “I hope that this gathering can serve as an opportunity to propose effective missionary methods to the junior PMM pastors. I encourage them to engage in missions with the verse from Matthew 25:34 in mind, which states, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.’” A diverse program was conducted, allowing attendees to reminisce about the past and envision the future. The program titled ‘PMM 20 Years: Unveiling through Quiz’ was conducted in a format similar to the show ‘Challenge! Golden Bell.’ It provided a meaningful time for participants to reflect on the history of related initiatives and reaffirm the given Gospel mission.

On second day, Jung SungJin, a professor in the Counseling Department at Sahmyook University, delivered an insightful lecture on addressing the challenges that PMM missionaries often face when reintegrating into their home environments, particularly regarding children and family issues.

The participants then actively participated in discussions encompassing various topics, including an analysis of the PMM ministry, suggestions for future directions, and expressing their organizational aspirations. These discussions unfolded through engaging in small group activities and report sessions.

The final day of the reunion featured an alumni organization establishment and a dedication ceremony. Individuals who were not currently serving as PMM missionaries committed themselves as lifelong missionaries, embracing new responsibilities and deepening their connection to the mission. Kim SunHwan, NSD Adventist Mission director, emphasized that the PMM 20th Anniversary Alumni Reunion aims to foster the sharing of mission know-how among missionaries and assist in addressing the challenges they encounter in their missionary work. He expressed his intention to communicate these issues to the North Asia-Pacific Division for further improvement.
