The Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) Communication Department had an advisory meeting at the NSD office in Ilsan from May 9 to 11, 2016, with the directors of the Communication Department and Media Center of each Union Conference, Conference, and Mission within the NSD.
Through this 3-day meeting, participants had the time to learn about the Communication and Media plans of the General Conference and the Division and to report and discuss the work of each country and district.
The participants of this quinquennial meeting were General Conference communication director William Costa Jr., NSD communication director Han SukHee, NSD communication associate director Byun SeongJun, Um DukHyun from Korean Union Conference (KUC), Daniel Jiao from Chinese Union Mission, Norihiko Hanada from Japan Union Conference, and the directors of Communication/ Media Center of the five local conferences of KUC, Hong Kong-Macao Conference, Taiwan Conference and Mongolia Mission.
in the opening worship of the meeting, Pastor Han mentioned, "The work of the Communication Department and Media Center in Christ and work out of Christ have a great difference on the spirit, the goal, and the result." He appealed, "When we experience true rebirth in Christ, all of our communication and media work which are utilized to witness the truth can be justified and fully effective."
Elder William Costa, Jr., reported the core strategic plans of the GC Communication department for this 5-year session, such as mission training through communication and media, Adventist News Network, GAiN, social network mission, Christian film, and crisis management.
Except for the reports of work plans of the communication department of each Union Conference and Conference, there were some noticeable reports, such as "Internet and Social Network Mission" by Pastor Lee SangYong, KUC Media Center, "Internet Mission in China" by Mr. Jiao Lui from China, and "Copywriting for Mission" by Miss Baek YoungShim, office assistant of the NSD Communication Department.
On the second day, after the morning session, the participants experienced a special field trip. They visited JTBC Broadcasting Station and Korean Film Museum in Sangam, Seoul. In JTBC they toured film sites and studios and learned about shooting methods and equipment.
On the last day of the advisory meeting, NSD president JaiRyong Lee, through his devotional message, emphasized, "The soul-winning work should be the lifelong effort of all people who confess Christ as their Savior." He also appealed to them to work together with united mind to draw participation of all Adventist members to reach the goal of Vision One Million 2020.
Through this NSD Communication Department advisory meeting, participants were able to analyze the current situation of communication and media mission, to share the vision for the coming 5-year work, and to discuss how to utilize new technologies in this generation constantly developing innovative technologies.
