KUC Presents Goals for the Next Year at the Annual Council

The Korean Union Conference (KUC) held its Annual Council at SDA Education Auditorium from November 13 to 15, 2017. The goals for next year, including 250,000 church membership, 63,000 average Sabbath attendance, 5,500 baptisms, and cultivation of 7 churches were presented. The delegates said together in chorus, “Based on solid faith that people with mission will surely triumph, we should humbly place our eyes upon Jesus only so that we can accomplish the world mission. Under the motto of ’Sharing Member, Serving Church,’ we will do our best to strengthen local churches.”

According to the KUC annual report, as of September 2017, the total number of Adventist members is 252,225 with an average attendance of 57,069, which is only 1/4 of church membership. This means that churches have many lost members, so particular management on backsliders is needed. The total number of churches, companies, and groups is 821, and there are 881 full-time ministers serving the church.

“As what we have accomplished seemed impossible at first, we are now facing many seemingly impossible challenges. However, God is an expert in making the impossible possible. Thus, we have no reason to be afraid of those challenges. All we can do is to trust in Jesus Christ,” said Hwang ChunKwang, KUC president.
