The Korean Union Conference (KUC) held its Annual Council at the SDA Language Institute from November 14 to 16, 2016. Under the theme of “Only Jesus, Mission First,” a total of 110 delegates from all over Korea along with other guests were in attendance.
In the opening worship service, Pastor Jairyong Lee, president of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD), focused on the unchanging mission of the Adventist Church in this fast-changing world. “All our church members should strive for mission as the Israelites, in faith, marched around Jericho for seven days. As long as we have that faith, we can achieve our goal of reaching a membership of one million,” said Pastor Lee.
During the council, KUC president Hwang ChunKwang emphasized “Hope 2020,” which is the new mission plan for the Korean Adventist Church, and asked attendees to commit to being supportive of the local church’s mission work. “We are going to let each local church lead in mission work instead of just doing what the Conference plans. We will encourage them to carry out their own mission projects in an active and creative way,” said Pastor Hwang.
The annual report from KUC, local conferences, and various mission institutions and businesses, such as hospitals, schools, food companies, a publishing house, and language institutes, continued at the council.
The delegates gave thanks to God who has guided the Korean Adventist Church and its members and asked God for His wisdom in making decisions and future plans. Please continue to pray for God’s abundant blessings upon the Korean Church.
