Joy, Faith, and Fellowship Shine at Lakpahana Children’s Camp

From April 9 to 12, 2025, the Lakpahana Seventh-day Adventist College campus in Sri Lanka burst into life with the laughter, praise, prayers, and fellowship of more than 300 children. The Sri Lanka Mission hosted its annual Children’s Ministries Camp under the theme “God’s Creation and Me.” The Camp aimed to help children strengthen their relationship with their Creator, embrace biblical values, and discover their unique role in God’s creation.

Each day began with worship led by the children, which nurtured their spiritual confidence and leadership. Raquel Arrais, Children’s Ministries Director of the NSD, delivered warm and engaging morning and evening messages that touched young hearts and reminded them of their priceless value in God’s eyes.

The Camp offered a variety of engaging activities that promoted growth in mind, body, and spirit. Children connected through icebreakers and started the event with a vibrant welcome parade led by the Lakpahana school band. They sang and shared in daily devotions that deepened their faith, and they strengthened their knowledge of Scripture by participating in Bible quizzes. They also enjoyed fun recreational moments through swimming, outdoor games, and a bouncing castle.

In addition, the program included meaningful workshops such as the “Five Fingers Prayer,” which taught children how to remember whom to pray for using each finger. A creative cooking session taught the importance of stewardship and budgeting, while a special stewardship education session helped children understand the joy of giving. Kim NakHyung, Stewardship Director of NSD, generously supported this effort by providing personal offering boxes and inspiring children to practice tithing and faithful giving from a young age.

The Camp bore visible spiritual fruit. Fifteen children decided to be baptized, and eighteen others dedicated their lives to God to become future pastors and church leaders.

The camp community gathered for a joyful campfire celebration on the final evening. Children sang, danced, and cherished one last evening of shared memories. The next morning, children, guardians, and leaders returned home with gratitude, renewed faith, and anticipation for the 2026 camp.

Reflecting on the experience, Alice Arul Emerson, Children’s Ministries Director of the Sri Lanka Mission, said, “Every part of this Camp unfolded under God’s guidance. We enjoyed clear skies, stayed safe throughout, and felt His peace in every moment.” She continued, “We deeply appreciate the financial support from Seventh-day Adventist institutions across Sri Lanka, as well as the quiet generosity of anonymous donors who provided food, supplies, and countless unseen blessings that helped make this camp a success.”
