Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Acquires ISO22000 Certification in Food Safety
The Department of Food and Nutrition at the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital (HKAH) was awarded the ISO22000 certification in Food Safety and Hygiene Management, which made it the first hospital in Hong Kong to earn such certification. The ISO22000 is the only international standard in the field of food safety. It adopts principles of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) in the food safety management system. By acquiring the ISO22000 certification, HKAH demonstrates its commitment to providing healthy, and safe diets to its patients and staff.
Adventist Hospitals Promote ISF Day
The Hong Kong Adventist Hospital, in partnership with the International Self-care Foundation, and Sheenhok Charitable Foundation, held a press conference to promote the 2013 International Self-care Day, or ISF Day, on July 24, 2013. The Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital also participated in this initiative offering free physical examinations to 100 elderly citizens. The goal was to educate the public about the importance of having healthy lifestyles, and how to prevent certain health risks such as obesity, cardio-vascular diseases, etc.

The Adventist Pediatric Heart Fund Benefits Underprivileged Children
The Adventist Pediatric Heart Fund (APHF) held a press conference in mid-August, 2013, to educate the public about two kinds of congenital heart diseases: patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) and Tetralogy of Fallot (ToF). The Adventist Pediatric Heart Fund is one of the Charity Outreach programs of the “Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Foundation.” It was set up in August, 2010, to continue the work of the Children’s Heart Fund which had been established in 1991. Its aim is to provide life-saving treatments for underprivileged children suffering from congenital heart disease.
“Explore Your Health” Evangelistic Meeting Coming Soon
An evangelistic meeting entitled “Exploring Your Health” will be held in November, 2013, by the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital. The Media Evangelism Limited, a local Christian media producing group, will share its newest discoveries of Noah’s Ark. Famous singer and actress, Agnes Chiang, will also give her personal testimony. One Week with Dr. Chen Tianji for NEWSTART
The Lifestyle Management Center of the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital, plans to have a NEWSTART program from November 12 to 18, 2013. The venue will be the Hilltop Country Club at Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong. Dr. Chen Tianji, from the Taiwan Adventist Hospital, will be the main speaker. His message will help participants understand how to prevent cardio-vascular diseases, how to lower blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar, and how to prevent osteoporosis and depression.
