More than 176 official delegates and 17 invitees gathered at the Bible Auditorium in Kowloon, Hong Kong SAR, from December 17 to 19, 2016, for the 17th Session of the Hong Kong-Macao Conference (HKMC).
In addition to listening to the reports on the work in the HKMC territories, the delegates focused on picking the right persons to form the conference leadership for the next four years. Presided by Bob Folkenberg, Jr., president of Chinese Union Mission (CHUM), the Nominating Committee chose Heywood Cham as the new president and Alphon Fung as the new executive secretary of HKMC. Both candidates were warmly accepted by the delegates. Cham had been serving as the executive secretary of HKMC until then.
The candidate for the treasurer’s position is still to be decided. Delegates also agreed to let the new HKMC executive committee appoint the departmental directors.
The Conference Session delegates also expressed their deep appreciation to Chiloe Fan, former president, and Hock Kee Wee, former treasurer, for their excellent services.
