Children’s Week of Prayer in Mongolia

Reflection, an Adventist school in Mongolia, with the collaboration of the children’s department of Mongolia Mission conducted a week of prayer as the third semester commenced for the 2014-2015 academic year. The week of prayer was organized for two groups: primary school students and middle and high school students. The theme for the primary school students was "Heroes of Faith," and for the middle and high school students, it was "Hope In the Promises of Jesus." These sessions were designed to help students to study the Word of God and then share God’s love with others.

Young children met Bible heroes and reflected on God’s protection, forgiveness, obedience, goodness, faithfulness, and gentleness. They learned that God answers prayers. They also painted and colored children’s Bible stories to share with their families.

A 7-year-old girl shared her testimony. She said, "My parents do not believe in God, but I prayed, asking God to help me write without making any mistakes. After that, I did not make any mistakes. Since then, every time I do my homework, I pray to God for help.” She said, “God heard my prayers and always will.” After hearing this testimony, I was very grateful to God for giving us the opportunity to establish an Adventist school in Mongolia.

After each presentation, the middle and high school students talked about how to apply what they had learned from class in their daily lives. They talked about God’s love for them and expressed their opinions about witnessing for Him.

Children actively participated in the week of prayer by taking part in opening and closing prayers, special prayers, and singing worship songs. Some children had the chance to meet Bible characters for the first time. They listened to God’s promise, and some reflected on their faith. Teachers also answered questions the students had about God.

At the end of the week of prayer, the children shared their desire to be citizens of the kingdom of God and to commit themselves to the King of kings.
