Centers of Hope and Healing

On May 7-10, the Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division held their Health Ministries Advisory followed by the first Zimbabwe Adventist AIDS Ministries (ZAAM) Convention on May 10-14, 2012. The health director from NSD attended both meetings in Africa.

ZAAM was set up in January of 2004 and serves 25 countries! Their vision: Churches and communities to become centers of hope and healing for those living or affected by HIV and AIDS. Their mission is toencourage churches togive wholisticcare to their communities, provide treatment and mitigation in response to the HIV pandemic irrespective of socio-religious status.

ZAAM has five values: 1) Biblical Principles, 2) Moral Integrity, 3) Discipline and Excellence, 4) Human Life as Created by God, and 5) Community service.
About HIV and AIDS the Adventists proclaim:
Zero stigma and discrimination
Zero infection
Zero death due to AIDS
Zero violence to women, men, children and vulnerable persons
Every church a community health center and every member a health minister!

Our SDA churches in Africa are well-known for being centers of hope and healing for those living or affected by HIV and AIDS.
