From May 8th to 11th, 2024, the Children’s Ministries Department of the Sri Lanka Mission hosted a vibrant and spiritually enriching camp at Lakpahana Adventist College, Mailapitiya. Under the dedicated leadership of Alice Emerson, Children’s Ministries Director of the Sri Lanka Mission, the camp brought together over 200 children from across Sri Lanka to explore the theme “An Answered Prayer.”
Crishtela, Associate Director of the Children’s Ministries Department, expertly directed the camp, whose leadership ensured a smoothly run event. Ravishankar, serving as the camp pastor, provided daily spiritual guidance alongside Pr. Majintha delivered inspiring morning and evening messages from the Book of Daniel that deepened the children’s faith and understanding of prayer.

A well-rounded program featured special sessions on health, hygiene, and addictions, equipping the children with essential knowledge and life skills. Mrs. Esther led engaging camp craft activities, where the children actively participated, allowing them to express their creativity and develop new skills.
The camp’s rich schedule included morning and evening worship sessions, music, games, campfire activities, and a nature walk.A particularly memorable moment was when the children prayed for a break in the rain for their nature walk. Their prayers were answered, as the rain stopped just in time, resuming just after the walk was over, powerfully reinforcing the camp’s theme.

As the camp concluded, the children left with renewed faith, new friendships, and a deepened understanding of prayer’s power, truly experiencing “An Answered Prayer.” Children expressed eagerness for the next camp and a desire to improve their prayer lives. The camp’s success has set a positive precedent for future events, with the organizers expecting outcomes such as increased interest in baptism among the children at the appropriate age.
