Adventists in Hong Kong raise funds on streets

On July 23, about 800 Adventist volunteers braved high temperature and went on streets in Hong Kong to raise funds for charity by selling flags (little stickers, usually with fund-raising organization’s name and logo printed on, are given to donors to put on clothing for the purpose of appreciation and identification).

These volunteers were made up by staff members from the Hong Kong-Macao Conference, the Chinese Union Mission, various Adventist educational institutions and church members.

Citizens of Hong Kong responded to the Adventists’ efforts with enthusiasm. They put pocket changes into the collection bags. Although there were about 100 fewer bags this year, the total amount of donation collected exceeded HKD250,000 (USD 32,000) which beat the 2013 record by a wide margin.
