ENDITNOW 2025: Honoring the Elderly Across Bangladesh and Pakistan

On August 23, 2025, the global church united to observe ENDITNOW Emphasis Day, a Seventh-day Adventist initiative dedicated to raising awareness and ending all forms of abuse. This year’s focus highlighted an often-overlooked issue—elder abuse—with the call to action: “Honor Your Father and Your Mother” and “Be the Voice.”

In Bangladesh, the Women’s Ministries of the Bangladesh Adventist Union Mission marked the day across its four regional missions—EBM, NBM, SBM, and WBM. Elderly members of local congregations were specially recognized and honored, receiving tokens of love as symbols of appreciation and respect. This heartfelt gesture brought warmth and gratitude throughout the churches. At Dhaka SDA Church, Mahuya Roy, Women’s Ministries Director of BAUM, led a seminar addressing the realities of elder abuse, including how to identify signs of mistreatment and ways to prevent it within families and congregations. Elderly attendees shared stories, enjoyed games, and joined in fellowship, making the day both meaningful and joyful.

In Pakistan, the Pakistan Union Section also embraced the global initiative with the theme “Be the Voice.” Churches, leaders, and members organized community outreach programs, awareness seminars, and church activities dedicated to honoring the elderly. Gifts were distributed to older individuals, highlighting the value, dignity, and care they deserve. Kim YoungMoon, Women’s Ministries Director of PKU, reflected, “The Bible teaches us to care for and respect aging people, but unfortunately, they are sometimes forgotten. We praise God that we could be the voice for them in Pakistan during ENDITNOW Emphasis Day.”

Although separated by geography, Bangladesh and Pakistan shared a common commitment: to raise awareness, extend compassion, and advocate for the dignity of the elderly. The 2025 ENDITNOW Emphasis Day served as a reminder that Christ Himself honored the elderly and that the church is called to continue this legacy—bringing hope, healing, and honor to those who came before us.
