KUC Executive Secretary to Serve as Acting President Until Next Session

After Pastor Kang SoonGi was elected as the President of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division, the Korean Union Conference (KUC) decided its Executive Secretary will serve as Acting President until the next constituency meeting. The 37th KUC Constituency Meeting, during which a new president will be elected, is scheduled for December 7–8, 2025, at Sahmyook Central Church.

On August 7, 2025, the KUC convened a special meeting of its Executive Committee at the Children and Youth Vision Center, where this decision was made.

At this meeting, the committee addressed a single agenda item: “Filling the Position of President Due to Vacancy.” They discussed whether to elect a new president through a by-election within the committee before the regular session in December. In the vote, the proposal to hold a by-election was rejected, with 11 in favor and 49 opposed.

Consequently, Pastor Park JungTaek, Executive Secretary of the KUC, will serve as Acting President for the remainder of the term, until the election of a new president at the 37th regular constituency session. According to the KUC Operating Regulations and Administrative Guidelines, “In the event that the office of the Union President becomes vacant between constituency sessions, the Executive Secretary shall serve as acting President until a new president is elected.”

Pastor Park stated, “I will work to conclude the remaining term well and prepare for the constituency session without delay. In any position I have held and in every decision I have made, I have always sought God’s will first, asking whether it is mission-focused, for the benefit of the church and members, and in harmony with the bylaws and regulations. Though this will be a short period, I will proceed with deep consideration and do my utmost. I ask for your prayers and cooperation.”
