Japan’s First AMS Couple United in Christ

In a joyful milestone for the Adventist Marriage Support (AMS) program in Japan, a couple who met through the AMS matching process in 2024 were united in marriage this past March at the Tachikawa Seventh-day Adventist Church in Tokyo.

Officiated by Pastor Norihiko Hanada, the ceremony was more than a wedding—it was a celebration of faith, love, and divine guidance. As the first marriage since the program’s launch, it marked a significant moment not only for the AMS initiative but also for the wider church community.

The AMS website, jointly operated by the Family Ministries and Youth Ministries departments, was created to help young, single Adventist members pursue Christ-centered relationships that lead to marriage. The program offers a structured and prayerful pathway that includes registration, interviews, pastoral counseling, and guided introductions. With the support of trained pastors and advisors, AMS emphasizes spiritual compatibility and emotional maturity as the foundation of strong, lasting Adventist homes. This first marriage stands as a testament to God’s faithfulness and the church’s commitment to nurturing spiritually grounded, loving relationships within a supportive community.

Amid Japan’s declining birthrate and increasing number of single adults, AMS shines as a beacon of hope—connecting hearts with purpose and prayer. As this couple embarks on their journey together in Christ, their union reflects the core mission of the ministry: to build homes rooted in faith where God’s love is both lived and shared.
Their marriage is not only a personal blessing but also a symbol of what God can accomplish when faith, community, and commitment come together in harmony.
