Reflecting Beauty: Nepal's First Women’s Congress Unites Adventist Women

The first-ever Women’s Congress of the Nepal Section of the Seventh-day Adventist Church took place in Banepa City, near Kathmandu, Nepal, from February 7-9, 2025. This landmark event saw the active participation of more than 215 women from 44 churches across Nepal.

Shanti Pokharel, Women’s Ministries Director of the Nepal Section, and her dedicated team spent nearly six months planning the event. The theme for the event, “Reflect Beauty: We Are Daughters of God,” resonated deeply with the women of Nepal, reinforcing their identity in Christ.

Raquel Arrais, Women’s Ministries Director of the NSD, delivered messages on reflecting beauty through biblical characters. She stated, “We must embody Christ’s character in our daily lives, care for our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit, and serve purposefully.” During the Divine Service, she expanded on the theme of beauty through service, saying, “Women in the Bible have shown us how faith in action can transform lives and communities.” She challenged the attendees to remain steadfast in their commitment to God.

This Women’s Congress stood out for its diversity, unity, and vibrant spirit. Women from different backgrounds came together to celebrate their faith and mission. Clad in colorful traditional attire, the participants radiated joy and devotion. The event emphasized key aspects of a fulfilling Christian life, including putting God first, daily Bible study and prayer, healthy living, positive thinking, trust in God, building strong relationships, and soul-winning efforts. A particularly memorable segment, “Daughters of God,” featured young girls showcasing traits such as kindness, bravery, patience, humility, and strength, symbolizing the next generation of faith-filled women.

The consecration ceremony served as a moment of reflection and commitment, inspiring the women to return to their communities with renewed purpose. Shanti Pokharel expressed profound gratitude to God for the event’s success, stating, “This gathering was a dream come true, and I thank God for guiding us every step of the way.” She extended heartfelt thanks to leaders and all the participants whose support made the congress possible.
