One of the main purposes of the Adventist Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is to oversee and strengthen the Global Mission initiative by focusing attention on areas and people groups where there are no, or few, Seventh-day Adventists. In this respect, Taiwan can be the place where our priority should lie since the Adventist ratio among Han people in Taiwan is less than one to ten thousand. On this specific purpose, NSD planned to have the Taiwan City Simultaneous Evangelistic Meetings 2023 from July 3 to 8, 2023, though each church may change the dates according to their inevitable reasons. Twenty churches applied to this Evangelical Initiative and twenty speakers have been assigned to all sites. Most of the Division officers and directors are involved as speakers for the meetings and some presidents of the Unions and institution directors are joining in this movement.
In March 6, 2023, we had the first onsite preparation meeting for TCSEM at the Headquarters office of Taiwan Conference. The purpose of this meeting was to help the pastors of the churches to know how to prepare the evangelistic meetings efficiently. Pastor Kwon Kim, NSD SSPM director gave them two hours of lecture explaining the process how to start preparation and proceed until the meeting is held. This lecture gave the participants a clear idea about what and how to do for the evangelistic meetings. Pastor Kim emphasized one thing: If we fail to prepare, we are preparing the failure. Pastor SunHwan Kim, NSD Adventist Mission director, gave another lecture and emphasized the Christ’s method in mission. He shared some illustrations from Jesus stories and showed how Jesus approached people and take steps to reach them. Quotations from the Spirit of Prophecy were presented to find the principle of the strategies that we can choose for today’s mission. Dr. Yohan Kim joined and delivered a encouraging message to the pastors.
Since some of the pastors were not able to attend this time, there will be another zoom meeting for the absent pastors in the second week of April. The second preparation meeting is also scheduled in May to check if the preparations are going well at all sites. This meeting will be held in three areas in Taiwan respectively. We believe that the Holy Spirit will be with all church pastor, church members, and all speakers, so that this movement lead the Taiwan Adventist Church revived and expanded with the Three Angels’ Messages.
