Five pastors were ordained on September 22, 2018. The ceremony was held in Kowloon Church. These five pastors are Zhang Qiang, Chinese Union Mission (CHUM) associate regional director; Hao Laien, CHUM assistant regional director and youth ministries director; Lin Wing Chuen, HKMC pastor at Tai Wo Church; Fung Tsz Kin, chaplain at Hong Kong Adventist Hospital (Tsuen Wan); and Siu Ka Kei, assistant pastor at Bible Auditorium Church.
Zhang Qiang
Zhang Qiang was born into an Adventist family in 1976 and was baptized in 1993. He was called by God and started serving the local church in 1999. He studied at the Asia-Pacific International University in Thailand for a Master of Christian Ministry degree from 2008 to 2014. Meanwhile, he was serving the local Chinese church in Bangkok. Zhang joined CHUM in May 2017. He married Xiaoxia Qu in 2002 and had their daughter, Entong (meaning God’s grace upon us), in 2017.
Hao Laien
Hao Laien was born to Adventist parents in China in 1986. Both of his parents were active in gospel ministries. Hao was baptized in 2002. During his four years of study of theology in the United States, he worked as a literature evangelist. He also served in Virginia and Oklahoma as an intern pastor for two years. Laien settled in California and pastored a Chinese Church in San Diego for two years. In 2010, he went to Andrews University and pursued a Master of Divinity. Later, he served a Chinese church in Los Angeles for three years. In 2016, he accepted the calling to work for CHUM. He married Low Sheng Jia in 2017, and their baby will be born soon.
Lin Wing Chuen
Lin Wing Chuen was born in Hong Kong in 1983. He was baptized in 2002 and began to study theology at Hong Kong Adventist College the following year. Since 2006, he has been serving HKMC at several churches and at Kowloon Sam Yuk Secondary School. He married Chin Chuk Wan in 2011, and they now have a son.
Fung Tsz Kin
Fung Tsz Kin was born in Hong Kong in 1984. He knew Christ through his mother and was baptized in 1998. In 2009, he finished his study of theology and studied clinical pastoral education in 2015. He worked as assistant chaplain at Tai Po Sam Yuk Secondary School for four years. He also has experience in youth ministry. Since 2017, he has been serving as a chaplain at Hong Kong Adventist Hospital (Tsuen Wan). He and his wife, Pinky Ng, were married in 2015.
Siu Ka Kei
Siu Ka Kei was born in mainland China in 1981 and moved to Hong Kong with his parents in 1997. He studied at Kowloon Sam Yuk Secondary School in 1997 and was baptized in 2001. From 2005 to 2009, he studied theology at Hong Kong Adventist College. Then he was called by HKMC and served at Tai Po Church for two years. He served as a chaplain at Macau Sam Yuk Secondary School while pastoring two local churches. In 2017 he returned to Hong Kong and has been a pastor at the Bible Auditorium Church since. He married Naara Lee. They have a son Titus and are expecting another child.
