The South East Korean Conference (SEKC) held a Mind Theory Training School from June 11 to 13, 2017, in Euiryeong, Gyeongsangnam-do. This special training was arranged by the Korean Union Conference (KUC) ministerial department for SEKC pastoral spouses. The training is based on the premise that a healthy pastoral spouse leads to a healthy pastoral family, and a healthy pastoral family leads to a healthy church.
Dr. Kim Nami, the guest presenter, taught the pastoral spousesabout mental fitness, the Spirit of Prophecy, and the Bible, based on her research. This education had three main goals: 1) to be positive and perceive one’s value as high as the value of the blood of Christ, 2) to respect others and to respect oneself, and 3) to be united in Jesus and to share His grace and hope with others.
The Mind Theory Training School was attended by around 30 pastoral spouses. Many felt awkward when they got togetheron the first day. As time went by, however, they felt a sense of empathy as they shared happiness and sorrows and comforted each other. It helped them bond and, through shared experiences, provided insight into what their real needs were.
The ministerial spouses were able to spend time in prayer together, thanking God for His healing and His grace. They realized His will for them and why He called them asshepherdesses. They are alive in His grace, which brings them real happiness. As a result of learning that positive thinking results in positive actions, they determined to focus on the positive, rather than the negative.
At the end of the training, a special ceremony was held to recognize the ministerial spouses for their participation in and completion of the Mind Theory Training School. SEKC president, Kim WonSang, and the Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) associate ministerial director, Lisa Clouzet, were on site to present the certificates and to encourage the women who had completed the training.
To continue learning, several spouses are sharing their personal class notes and impressions with other participants through social media. What they learned will be practiced and applied in each of their fields. The next training is scheduledfor September 2017.
