On February 1, 2016, Sahmyook University had an inaugural service for Dr. Kim SungIk, the 14th president of the university. In attendance were 100 faculty members, students and guests.
Dr. Kim suggested focusing on the development of glocal (global and local) talented students with mission, vision, and passion. He also set the target of being named one of the top quality colleges in the capital area by 2020 and to become known as a global university.

“Going through the high tension of university structural reform evaluation, we will creatively apply the philosophy of Adventist education in tune with the times. The Lord may bless our efforts so that this school can become more developed and well-known,” said Dr. Kim.
Citing Deuteronomy 20:1-4, Pastor Hwang ChoonKwang, chair of the board of Sahmyook University, said, “God is with us and He fights for us in time of crisis. I hope Sahmyook University experiences amazing development through the unity and dedication of the president, faculty, and students in the rapidly changing educational environment in Korea.”
