KUC Hosts GC Health Ministry Team for a Vegetarian Nutrition Conference

On March 9 and 10, 2015, the General Conference Health Ministry team, comprised of Dr. Peter Landless, Dr. Fred Hardinge, Dr. Kathleen Kuntaraf, and Dr. Viriato Ferreria, conducted a two-day Vegetarian Nutrition Conference for our members.

More than 180 people attended the first day, and on the second day there were more than 120 attendees. Their energy and enthusiasm during the question-and-answer period were encouraging.  The health ministry department of the Korean Union Conference (KUC) plans to run a repeat program for KUC ministers and their spouses.

The Conference included the following topics:the SDA nutritional philosophy, hypertension implications for the vegetarian, advantages of vegetarian diets in diabetes, the Bible and a vegetarian diet, the use of alcohol, and nutritional facts and fiction.

More than a century ago, God used Ellen White to sketch a way of life for people in His prophetic movement. It was based on exercise, adequate rest, a wholesome diet, abstinence from harmful substances, a positive mental outlook, and trust in divine blessings. More than a hundred years have passed during which scientific research has confirmed over and over again the benefits of the way of life God presented to Ellen White.

God’s plan for this world includes the complete restoration of men and women to His image. To complete this task, the health message may be used in two ways: health education for church members and health evangelism for the community.

You are what you eat! When members have been educated, they can share the love of Christ to others and teach them how to eat right and live right to restore His image, thus hastening His second coming.  Each one of us can have a part in this approach to “Mission First”!
