HKAC celebrates 75th anniversary

Starting on October 31st of 2014, Hong Kong Adventist College (HKAC) celebrated its 75th anniversary with various activities for three days. The school has been standing at its current site near scenic Clear Water Bay since 1939 when it was moved from Guangzhou in the Chinese mainland during the Sino-Japanese war. Five of the school’s main buildings are assessed by the Hong Kong SAR Government as Grade 2 Historic Buildings.

Fitness Center Opening Ceremony at HKAC

On the first day of celebration, students from the Health and Fitness Program (Bachelor of Science) demonstrated how to use some of the fitness equipment at their newly opened Health and Fitness Center to the honored guests. On the same day, Adventism in China (AIC) and HKAC jointly launched the Center for Chinese Adventist Heritage (CCAH), an entity dedicated to the preservation of written records and a collection of historic items that memorialize the Adventist Movement in China.

On Sabbath, hundreds of alumni, honored guests and staff members worshiped in the beautiful Bay View Church built nearly half a century ago. In the evening, a fund-raising banquet was provided. Teachers and students performed wonderful programs to add to the festivity.

On Sunday, crowds gathered on the campus. From there, they started a walkthon. It was also a fund-raising event that involved hiking along the scenic route along the Clear Water Bay.

HKAC staff and students know that they have a bright future lying ahead. The anniversary celebration boosted their spirits and faith.They will continue to improve the schools mission and academics until perfection (school motto).
