2012 NSD Midyear Committee in Mongolia

Church leaders of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division of the Seventh-day Adventists reaffirmed the strong need for Revival by His Word and the emphasis of the mission during the Mid-year meeting in Mongolia from May 29-31, 2012. On May 29, the opening devotional presentation by Pastor Elbert Kuhn, Mongolia Mission Field director, emphasized that “Revived by His Word should happen to our individual lives.” Elbert Kuhn and his wife Cleidi served 6 years of missionary work as departmental directors for the Mongolia Mission Field before and came back for second time from Brazil in April 2012.

This was the first time for the Midyear meeting to be held in Mongolia in NSD history. The meetings were held at the Chinggis Khaan Hotel in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. The name Chinggis Khaan and his empire in history had a strong impact on the participants relating to our church mission. During the morning worship of May 30, Pastor Kim, Siyoung brought a thought out from the Bible, Zechariah 2:4-5: “Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it.  For I,’ says the Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her,” matching with a quote of Chinggis Khaan: “Those who build castles will be destroyed. The person who constantly moves and finds new roads will survive.” Pastor Kim stressed that we should not limit God’s blessings to our walls, but expand the border continually.”

During the business sessions, the unions and the MMF reports on the Spiritual Revival & Reformation and the Great Controversy Project were presented. As more need for the mission or leadership training components has been coming to the NSD territory including China with Hong Kong & Macao and Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and Mongolia, the Executive Committee voted for developing the NSD Leadership Training Center Building in Jeju Island, Korea. Also, upon the request from the West Central Korean Conference, it was approved to take the responsibility of the Ansan Migrants Mission Center as a part of NSD administration. Evangelism New York and Tokyo Evangelism topics were discussed both at the PREXAD and the floor of the meeting as the hot topics of mission for big cities.

One of the highlighted events was that all the participants read all together the Bible, Genesis chapter 44, as the part of “Revived by His Word” initiative of the General Conference in the midst of the meeting. For the historical NSD Midyear meeting, Dr. Jairyong Lee, NSD president, expressed special thanks to all the MMF staff for the preparation of the meeting places and logistics. Also appreciation and prayers were offered for Myagmar Munk-Jagal’s family who had permanently returned in this year from their missionary services in Armenia as the first IDE(Interdivision Employee)sent by the MMF.
