2012 CHUM Special Session

A Chinese Union Mission (CHUM) special session was held at Hong Kong Adventist College on December 4 to 5, 2012, with the theme of “Revival and Christian Life.”  There were a total of 72 participants including General Conference (GC) Vice President Mike Ryan, and GC Executive Secretary G. T. Ng, as well as Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) officers, and delegates from the CHUM territory.

The goal of this meeting was to record and accept the realignment of the CHUM territory, with Taiwan now directly attached to the NSD. New department directors were also appointed. Because this is was a special session, the nominating committee report showed minimum change in the Union personnel, although it is understood that the Union Executive Committee will make necessary adjustments in the near future.

GC Executive Secretary G. T. Ng, and NSD President JaiRyong Lee were invited to lead the morning devotions during these two days. All the participants were encouraged to look forward to a more goal-oriented approach to God’s work in the CHUM territory.

After the CHUM’s reorganization, although Taiwan is now directly under the NSD, there will still be many ties and corporation with the Chinese members in this area.  It is our prayer that through missionary work, education, medical assistance, human resource development, and media, that the gospel will continue to be preached to the people in this region.
