Pastor Gee Sungbae Elected President of Pakistan Union Section

Pastor Gee Sungbae, who has served as President of Pakistan Adventist Seminary & College (PASC), has been elected as the new President of the Pakistan Union Section.

The Pakistan Union Section held its 2025 Annual Council and Session on December 11, 2025, at the Pakistan Union Conference Hall in Lahore, where delegates approved his election by vote.

In his acceptance remarks, Pastor Gee humbly acknowledged the responsibility entrusted to him. “I know I have many shortcomings as a leader, and that is when I need your prayers the most,” he said. He added, “I will lead the Union together with you through prayer.”

In a separate message sent to News & Views, Pastor Gee said he accepted the responsibility “with fear and trembling, yet clinging solely to God.” He acknowledged the many challenges facing the mission in Pakistan and emphasized that the church stands not on human ability, but on God’s promises.

Quoting John 14:12, he described Jesus’ ministry as one of reformation, revival, and mission—restoring truth and seeking the lost—and affirmed that Pakistan needs the same work today. While recognizing cultural and social barriers, Pastor Gee stressed that the church will rely on God’s Word and the power of the Holy Spirit, trusting that fear will turn into boldness as the mission moves forward.

Alongside Pastor Gee, Pastor Zubaid Rehmat Khan and Pastor Basharit Saddique were elected as the new Secretary and Treasurer, respectively. Both leaders previously worked closely with Pastor Gee at PASC, where they served as Academic Dean and administrative and financial officer. Together, the three leaders have devoted their ministry to mission through churches and educational institutions, particularly in reaching Pakistan’s Muslim population, which accounts for approximately 97 percent of the country’s population.

Pastor Gee earned his bachelor’s degree in theology and his master’s degree from Sahmyook University and Sahmyook University Graduate School of Theology and is currently pursuing doctoral studies. He began his pastoral ministry at Gongneung-dong Church in the West Central Korean Conference and later served at Taereung Church, Sahmyook University Church, and Gangnam Central Church. He also served as Director of the Indonesia 1,000 Missionary Training Center and the Compass Missionary Training Center.

Since his appointment as President of PASC in 2017, Pastor Gee has dedicated himself to advancing the proclamation of the three angels’ messages in one of the world’s largest Muslim-majority nations, home to more than 220 million people. He and his wife, Kim Youngran, have two daughters, Yeju and Yebin.

Meanwhile, Pastor Lee MyunJu, who passed the leadership baton to his successor, will continue serving as a professor at Asia-Pacific International University (AIU) in Thailand after his retirement. The church called Pastor Lee to serve as President of the Pakistan Union Section in 2020 during the Southern Asia-Pacific Division Annual Council, when Pakistan was still part of that division, and he faithfully led the Church through a significant ministry season. The Northern Asia-Pacific Division presented a plaque of appreciation to Pastor Lee and his wife, expressing heartfelt gratitude for their years of dedicated service.
