NSD Year-End Meeting Day 1: A Powerful Start to a Mission-Driven Gathering

The Northern Asia-Pacific Division(NSD) Year-End Meeting has commenced from November 7 to 11. This meeting brings together leaders from 8 countries in the NSD to share mission reports and discuss key agenda items.

The meeting began with a morning worship session featuring special music by four General Conference (GC) officers as a quartet, bringing attendees joy and inspiration. Following this, Ted Wilson, President of the GC, delivered a sermon expressing gratitude for the leaders within NSD who are actively engaged in the Lord’s work. He emphasized, “The signs in the world show that the Lord’s coming is near. We must work with renewed energy, relying on God’s power, to spread the gospel further.”

Kim YoHan, President of the NSD, then officially opened the Year-End Meeting, encouraging participants to reaffirm their commitment to the Mission Statement of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

In the morning’s special session under the theme “Mission First,” reports highlighted the vibrant mission work across the eight NSD countries. Among these, the testimony of Deaconess Lee, who has been serving North Korean defectors for ten years, deeply moved the audience. Over the past decade, she has assisted 15 defectors in receiving baptism, supporting them not only spiritually but also by helping them settle into the church community. She concluded her testimony with a heartfelt plea, saying, “When I first started serving North Korean defectors 10 years ago, nearly 1,500 people came to South Korea each year. However, after COVID-19, most paths have been blocked, and now only 100–200 people arrive annually. We need to pray for this.”

Further country reports highlighted diverse mission activities, reinforcing NSD’s motto, “Mission First,” for all attendees.
The afternoon session opened with a Vision Seminar by Erton Kohler, Executive Secretary of the GC, who stressed, “Our call is to fill heaven, not just the church. Our priority is to transform the church, not to impress, and our church needs a change of content, not format.” Kohler also shared six essential principles for leaders to uphold. Afterward, during the

President’s Report, a video recap of NSD’s mission activities throughout the year was presented. Leaders from each country responded with gratitude, thanking the President for his leadership.

This year’s Directors’ Report took a unique approach. Instead of each department director presenting, a news reporter delivers key departmental events in a news format. Live interviews with field reporters were conducted throughout, capturing the audience’s attention and engagement.

The day concluded with leaders reviewing agenda items and voting, marking the close of the first day of the meeting.
