NSD Health Emphasis Week

God cares for our health, not only spiritually and mentally but also physically. Maintaining good physical health is the foundation for success in the workplace. The Health Ministries department of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) takes seriously the responsibility to promote and improve the health of the NSD family.

Several months ago, Mrs. Paula Sabuin, office assistant for NSD Health Ministries, shared her health plan of having a health station that could provide health assessment and counsel within the NSD office workplace. We decided to hold a health assessment activity from Dec. 6-10, 2021, during the Health Emphasis Week. We conducted major health assessments, including blood pressure, waist circumference, body composition, blood glucose, three-minute step test, health assessment questionnaires, and health counseling, all to raise health awareness among NSD officers and staff.
A week before the Health Emphasis Week, two Golden Angel members, Danielle and San, who are nursing professionals, called us. They said they would like to help us with the health assessment stations. Our department very happy knowing that God had prepared two nurses for us one year earlier. On Dec. 5, Sunday morning, we came to the NSD office and prepared everything for the venue.
Mrs. Sabuin took care of registration and the blood pressure station. Danielle and San took waist circumference, body composition, and blood glucose. I was responsible for the three-minute step test and health counseling. We also prepared fruits and nuts as gifts for the participants.
On the first day, Pastor Kim JungYoo, pastor at Paju International Church, came with his foot wound as our first guest. His support in this activity encouraged our team. On the third day, NSD President Kim SiYoung visited before his meeting. We were happy that he could make the time to participate, helping to promote this event even with his busy schedule. Golden Angel members, NSD officers and staff members came to the health assessments according to their available time.
The NSD Health Ministries department was glad that it could be a service for the NSD family. We believe this is the first of many assessments to promote health among our workers. Furthermore, we will keep serving as God’s servants to encourage healthy lives throughout the NSD territories.
