After 11 Years, Taiwan Conference Reignites Pathfinder Mission Spirit

The passionate voices of Pathfinder members shaping the future of mission in Taiwan echoed across the campus of Taiwan Adventist College. From February 1 to 4, 2026, the Taiwan Conference held a Pathfinder Camporee under the theme, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8).

The conference organized this large-scale event for the first time in 11 years, giving the camporee special significance. About 600 Pathfinders and leaders gathered for the four-day program. Although rain fell unexpectedly on the opening day, participants continued every activity with enthusiasm and commitment.

Sohn IlDo, Youth Ministries Director of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division, delivered the main messages. He centered his sermons on the book of Isaiah and called the young people to embrace God’s mission.

“God has called us to serve as missionaries in this land,” Pastor Son said. He urged the Pathfinders to respond boldly, declaring, “Here am I. Send me.”

He challenged them to begin their mission at home, at school, and in their local communities by living as “little Jesus.” He also encouraged them to remain willing to serve as overseas missionaries if God leads, calling them to live mission-centered lives.

Throughout the camporee, participants learned practical skills that strengthened the Pathfinder spirit, joined experiential activity booths, presented regional cultural performances, and attended spiritual meetings where they committed themselves to God’s calling.

More than 20 young people made decisions for baptism during the camporee. Seven were baptized on-site, publicly affirming their faith. The others will continue their baptismal studies in their local churches and will be baptized there.

Lay leaders played a key role in the camporee’s success. After visiting a camporee in Korea last year, they returned inspired and voluntarily committed themselves to months of preparation. Taiwan Adventist College provided the venue and full cooperation. The Taiwan Conference president and church leaders attended the entire event and personally encouraged the Pathfinders, demonstrating the church’s strong commitment to next-generation ministry. The Taiwan Conference now plans to expand and strengthen its Pathfinder ministry.

“Watching the children respond to God’s call with the words, ‘Here am I,’ allowed us to see the bright future of the church in Taiwan,” several leaders said.

Pastor Son added, “Seeing the conference host a camporee again after 11 years deeply moved me. I pray that the renewed Pathfinder ministry in Taiwan will practice the spirit of salvation and service and become a firm foundation for next-generation ministry. The Division will continue to support and collaborate actively in this mission.”
