A Call to Pray

Every January, Seventh-day Adventist churches globally join hands together to fast and pray during the Ten Days of Prayer. This prayer event was adopted by the world church in 2010 because God knows the value of praying alone and corporately.

For this reason, the Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) employees began the new year by joining together for the Ten Days of Prayer, Jan. 5-15, 2022. The theme, “The Three Angels Call to Prayer,” was appropriate considering the current coronavirus pandemic which has brought the world to a standstill. If ever a time was needed for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the church and a call to be united in prayer, then certainly that time is now.

Organized by NSD’s Revival & Reformation Committee, all participants had an opportunity to pause each morning to sing, study the word and pray together as a family. There was a time for testimonies, thanksgiving, as well as personal prayer requests for themselves, family and friends. North Korea Mission was the special focus of these prayers, asking the Holy Spirit to open the doors for the gospel of Jesus to enter and reach our brothers and sisters beyond the river.
A secret prayer friend was assigned to each participant to foster fellowship and communion with one another. At the end of the 10 days the revealing of the secret prayer friend was combined with a meal together. It was a joyful ending to ten special days—the chance to experience Jesus through a deeper relationship and a renewed commitment to share His love with others.

The NSD family is committed to “Mission First” and by God’s power they “will GO” where God sends. But only with a constant prayer connection to Him can we carry out the task He has prepared. God bids us, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3).
