5th Annual GIEN 2008

July 28, 2008 Denver, United States

The Fifth Annual International Global Internet Evangelism Forum convened in Denver, Colorado from July 9 to 13, 2008. Delegates from all corners of the globe arrived to brainstorm and dialogue about one thing: the internet. The main focus of the forum is to bring together all the top talent in our church to find ways to reach out to people using the latest forms of technology and media. And the main platform these days is the internet. The forum was well attended by people from all levels of church organization as well as lay people.

The meetings started out with the keynote address by Paul B. Kim. In his presentation “What is Real about the Virtual” he alluded to the fact that more internet users prefer the virtual world to the real world. How to use this to draw people to Christ is the question which begs answering. Workshops throughout the day gave attendees the opportunity to participate in a variety of interesting meetings with topics ranging from the latest tech talk about software to the moral and ethical considerations when using a website.

The GIEN 2009 is scheduled for May 13-17, 2009 in Jamaica.
