South Korea: Four-year old joins His Hands Mission Movement

April 11, 2008, Seoul, South Korea

“HwanHee, do you want to be a missionary for Jesus?” Her face split into a wide grin as she nodded enthusiastically: “Yes!” Four year old HwanHee Lim, Korea’s youngest, official missionary along with her parents and 296 volunteers joined the His Hands Mission Movement (HHMM) last week. The volunteers from 66 churches around Korea attended the Launching and Dedication Ceremony of the 1st Batch of the HHMM at Seoul Adventist Hospital church on April 4, 2008. Representatives from the Division, Union and local conferences attended the festivities.

The HHMM is the brainchild of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division and takes the General Conference His Hands concept one step further by organizing volunteers in a more formal way. Volunteers dedicate three years to serving as missionaries in designated areas in their country. Equipped with scarves, ties, bags, Bibles, DVD’s, booklets and magazines they go from door to door introducing people to Jesus and the Three Angels Messages.

Pastor SukHee Han, HHMM coordinator at NSD and a member of this first batch of missionaries is enthusiastic about the potential of this initiative. He shares, “I want Adventist youth to join this movement and spread the gospel to the whole world.” This group comprises the entire Sophomore theology class at Sahmyook University, foreigners, housewives, business men, deacons and little HwanHee.

Following the Ceremony, the missionaries deployed for Deer Mountain for a training retreat. They received training in counseling, bible study and personal evangelism to equip them for the work ahead of them.

Similar dedication ceremonies are scheduled in Mongolia and Japan in the near future.
