South Korea: Korean Union and Local Conferences Completed Secretariat Evaluation

The Northern
Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) has completed the
Secretariat Evaluation for the Korean Union and its
5 local conferences from June 11-15, 2007.
The evaluation was led by Larry Evans, Undersecretary of the General Conference (GC) and chairman of the team. Other members included Agustin Galicia, GC Associate Secretary, Barry Oliver, Secretary of the South Pacific Division, Stanley Ng, Assistant to the President of NSD, Akeri Suzuki, Secretary of NSD and Terry Tsui, Secretary of Chinese Union Mission.
The Evaluation Team spent about 3 hours for each organization, interviewing the officers and departmental directors and went through the actual secretariat work in the office. 64 items were evaluated including the following areas:
After the evaluation process, the team tabulated the total score for each organization and reported to the Administration the commendations and recommendations to be implemented in the coming years. The results of the evaluation was very encouraging.
Since all Secretaries are new to the position, to them, this evaluation exercise is an eye-opening experience. They have learned many good and practical lessons and they all determined to improve their services in the future.
“The purpose of this evaluation is not to judge or measure the efficiency of the Secretary, but rather the total operation of the Secretariat Office, its facilities, equipment, procedures and report systems”, said Akeri Suzuki, the Secretary of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division who organized this evaluation.
