Korea: Spiritual Revival and Restoration for Pastors from Japan

June 15, 2007, Wonju, South Korea

A special retreat for revival and training was held at the Adventist Training Center in Wonju, Korea from May 27 to June 6, 2007. Among the 17 participants were Japanese pastors, female pastors, lay members, and Koreans currently serving as Pioneer Mission Movement(PMM) pastors in Japan.

The meetings were concentrated on participants’ personal spiritual growth as well as to strengthen their skills in reaching out. Lectures including “Continuation and Verification of Prophetic Gifts”, “Historical Views of the Great Controversy”, “Identity of the Adventist Church”, “Love of God Expressed in Nature”, and “Three Angels’ Message and the Gospel” were given by Pastor Hong KwonEui, Director of the Adventist Training Center, Pastor Jun KwangSoo, General secretary of the Training Center, Pastor Kim MoonYoung, Academic Dean of the Center, Dr. Ahn KeumYoung, retired professor of Sahmyook University and Pastor Kim DaeSung, Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Department Director of Northern Asia-Pacific Division.

These meetings were requested by the Adventist Church in Japan to help church leaders to realize the current crisis faced by churches in Japan, to experience a closer walk with Jesus through prayer and the Word of God, to revive churches through spiritual restoration.

Great amount of time was spent in prayer and in the study of the Word of God. During the meeting, some participants surrendered themselves once again in the gospel ministry. Testimonies were given on how they were drawn closer to Jesus while attending these meetings. “This is a great opportunity to realize the true meaning of our calling into the ministry. Given the chance, I would like to attend this type of meeting again”, said Pastor Fujita Masataka of West Japan Conference.

The participants also visited various Adventist institutions including Sahmyook University, Seoul Adventist Hospital, SDA Language Institutes, Japanese Church and Eden Sanitarium & Hospital.

The 2nd training and revival meeting is scheduled to be held from September 2 to 12, 2007 for another group of pastors from Japan.
