A Mighty Day of Prayer
August 13, 2019

On April 7, 2019, the Kowloon Church in Hong Kong held a prayer camp. Each participant was given two devotional books, The Prayer Handbook and Devotional through the Lord’s Prayer. The camp started at 10 a.m. and ended at 3 p.m. The program included tutoring, demonstration, sharing, discussion, and prayer practice. It was an enriching experience. All of the participants were immersed in learning, and they shared their experiences to inspire and encourage one another.

Pastor Howard Fung, Pastor Danny Chow, and Elder Mak Yip Cheong spoke from the Bible to educate the members on the importance of having daily personal prayer devotionals. Then, by opening the Word of God, they pointed their audience to a heavenly home that is only accessible to those who pray.

The participants were divided into groups to study The Prayer Handbook. They were touched by Ellen White’s writing and deeply felt the importance of prayer for spiritual life.

Prayer in unity ensued after all of the motivational messages. Participants were divided into groups of two to pray with each other. Holding hands to form a circle, the members began to pray for the person next to them.

By the end of the day camp, the members felt spiritually rejuvenated. Fervent and persistent prayer is the source of strength and power for Christians. Without prayer, we have neither strength nor a spirit-filled life. Only when people begin to totally depend on God can they have spiritual power to defend themselves against the evil one.

Members in the Hong Kong-Macao Conference realize that they need to pray more fervently in the last days for the spiritual revival of the people in their territories.
