His job responsibilities are Director of Public Affairs and Religious Liberty(PARL); Coordinator of Adventist Laymen's Services and Industries(ASI); Coordinator of Library, Leadership Training, and Special Needs Ministries.
Dr. Joo's ministerial career began as a local church pastor, followed by various assignments that include Korean Union Conference(KUC) Associate Director of SS/PM, and Director of the 1000 Missionary Movement (1000MM) in the Philippinces.
Before he joined the NSD he served at the KUC Adventist Training Center as a business Manager. His main role was training church pastors. Dr. Joo holds a PhD in Missiology from the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS).
Special Needs Ministries started for helping the physically impaired such as the visually impaired and the hearing impaired. At the beginning of Jesus' public ministry, He proclaimed His mission in Luke 4:18, saying “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he
has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the
blind, to release the oppressed.”
Near the end of His public ministry, Jesus affirmed who would stand before Him in glory (Matt 25:34-40). Those who sympathize with people who are in dire need and voluntarily supporting their needs will be such a glory to God. Jesus underlines Christian attitude to their neighbors in trouble and practical care for them.
Special Needs Ministries aim to promote Christ-like character by providing helping hands. Until the end of age, the impaired will remain close to us. We must be their eyes, voices, ears, hands and feet.
