Teru Fukui

Pastor Fukui started his ministry at Tokyo Adventist Hospital (then called, Tokyo Sanitarium and Hospital) as a chaplain in 1981, and continued his chaplaincy in a Hospital till 2004, with the interval of studies at Andrews Seminary for the degree of Master of Divinity from 1886 Autumn to 1989 Winter and Clinical Pastoral Education at Loma Linda University Medical Center for Spring quarter 1989, and transferring the Medical Institution to work from Tokyo Adventist Hospital to Adventist Medical Center in Okinawa in 1997. The work he cherishes most while he served as a chaplain was spiritual care for terminal care patients and in a Hospice Care Unit. Then he was called to work as a departmental director for Sabbath School, Health Ministry, Children’s Ministries, and Stewardship departments for Japan Union Conference. Since 2006, he also served as a church pastor at Tachikawa, Tokyo, with the responsibilities of SS and Children’s departments. From 2008, he moved to Okinawa to serve as a pastor at Koza church together with some other responsibilities, also pastoring Uruma church and Ikei-Jima group. In 2010, he got a call to move to NSD to work for SS & PM, and Publishing Ministries Departments as a director.

Being converted to be a member of Remnant Church while he was a freshman at National Kyushu University, and having graduated from engineering in Ship Building (Naval Architecture), he wished and had a dream to follow Noah, one of our patriarchs, to build the ship of God’s Ark of salvation, the work of 3 Angel’s Message for the humankind. After working at Iron Company for a year, he was engaged with the LE work for a while and moved to study Bible at San-Iku College (Japan Missionary College) in Chiba, and was sent to be a student missionary to work for Japanese-“Issei” (1st generation old people) group in Hawaii for 2 years.

His wife, Yumiko, is a nurse who worked at Tokyo Adventist Hospital and Adventist Medical Center, and a mother of 2 sons, Shin and Hisashi, and 2 daughters, Kiyomi and Akiyo. All of them are now studying at college level education. Our God has been so gracious to us all of our family members. Praise His name!

The Publishing Department of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division gives leadership to the work of the publishing departments inside the Division territories, Adventist Book Centers, literature ministry seminaries, and literature evangelists.
