CHUM Annual Council highlights moving towards a common goal

December 10, 2009, Seoul, South Korea

CHUM held its Annual Council at Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital auditorium from Dec 1-3, 2009. As Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital plans construction of a new hospital building of more than 20 stories, this may be the last meeting in the compound before it is to be demolished early next year.

The Tell The World 2010-2015 strategic plan for the world church was discussed and most of the promotional material has been translated into Chinese, which includes handbills, videos, and a theme song.

Many exciting reports were given by CHUM institutions and departments. Part of the plan was to increase the membership in CHUM territory by 10% next year, which is a bold goal, but CHUM leadership believes that by God’s grace, everything is possible.

The ordination to the gospel ministry of David Lee and Ngo Kim Chai, both Malaysians presently working in Taiwan Adventist Academy and College was voted. Dates for special sessions for the HKMC and TWC to discuss the restructuring of the church organization were settled. Zhang Xiao Ming, Mok Wai Chung, and Cao Yu Feng were appointed associate Chinese Ministries directors. Liu Chin Tsang was promoted to Director of the Tai An Foundation, John Jang to Health Ministries director.

In order to emphasize the importance of returning the tithe, it was voted to record and reiterate leaders to set an example, and the faithful return of tithe as set out in the GC and NSD Working Policies.

As we see Jesus’ second coming getting close, it was thrilling to see that “CHUM is moving towards a common goal”, as reiterated by Dr. Jairyong Lee in his closing prayer.
