Chinese Ministry Convention Considers Implication of Financial Crisis On Its Mission Objectives September 1, 2009, Hong Kong Adventist College, Hong KongHong Kong Adventist College hosted the 7th Chinese Ministry Convention (CMC) from August 25 to 26, 2009. The main theme for this year’s convention was, “how to continue to develop Chinese ministries around the world despite the financial crisis.” Attendance of CMC exceeded all previous conventions. Representatives from around the world which care for Chinese ministries in their territories included people from the General Conference, the Northern Asia-Pacific Division, the Chinese Union Mission, the Hong Kong-Macau Conference, the Taiwan Conference, the Peninsular Malaysia Mission, the Singapore Conference, the Chinese churches in America, educational institutions from Southwest Asia, and representatives from various ministries in Malaysia, Indonesia, the United States, Vietnam, and others. CMC is held every two years and its main goal is to understand the development of Chinese ministries around the world. Topics under discussed at this convention focused on how to evangelize Chinese people, the best structure for Chinese ministries, and how to connect different entities interested in Chinese ministries to better use available resources and talents. Participants gave inspiring reports about their ministries to the Chinese people in their parts of the world, and everyone was amazed at the many ways to do Chinese ministries which they had never thought of before. At the same time, all realized the tremendous challenge of sharing the good news with one quarter of the world’s population. The convention ended with a prayer by Pr. Eugene Hsu, General Conference vice president, with everyone forming a circle and joining hands. We all thanked God for his leading during the two days.
