Follow The Bible Multilingual Bible Arrives
In South Korea May 19 2009, Ilsan City, South Korea
The Multilingual Bible arrived at the Northern Asia-Pacific Division from the South Pacific Division (SPD) in Ilsan, South Korea on May 18, 2009. NSD Ministerial Secretary, Pastor Miguel Luna traveled to Sydney, Australia last week in order to bring the special Bible to continue its journey in the NSD territories. South Pacific Division General Secretary, Pastor Lawrence Tanabose handed the Bible over to Pastor Luna who arrived from Australia on schedule to begin the arrival program at the NSD headquarters. On Monday morning May 18, officers, departmental directors, staff and guests from the Korean Union Conference met to participate in this special arrival program during the regular worship time at 8:00 AM.
The program began with Bible readings in the main languages represented in the NSD territories: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Mongolian and English.
Northern Asia-Pacific Division Secretary, Pastor Akeri Suzuki received the special Bible from Pastor Luna and placed it on a special podium. Pastor Suzuki shared the wonderful testimony about his father Mr. Mitsuharu Suzuki who was the first converted Adventist at Anjo in Aishi Prefecture, Japan. During the last moments of his life knowing that he will die soon, he called his children and siblings saying: “I will die tomorrow. My life was happy and enjoyable and lastly I want you to ask you please read the Bible, Please read the Bible! This is my hope!” Seven brothers and a sister remain faithful Adventists in Japan. This is a wonderful testimony of the power of God through His Scriptures.
After a music selection performed by Youth Ministries Director, Pastor Joshua Shin, Pastor Miguel Luna spoke about Living the Word of God suggesting the importance of studying the Bible by spending time in reading it every day. As we read we also acknowledge that its message is meant for us. As we continue reading the Bible we discover that indeed its message brings us an eternal message. That message shows that the Bible leads us to Jesus and the blessed hope in His soon return when sin, death and suffering will be no more.
After the congregation sang “Give Me the Bible”, Women’s Ministries Director, Dr. Sally Lam-Phoon read a litany with the congregation responding followed by a congregational commitment to read the Bible led out by Communications Director, Pastor Han, S. H. At the end Pastor Suzuki handed over the Bible to President of the Korean Union Conference, Pastor Hong Myung Kwan for the arrival program at the KUC auditorium on May 19, 2009.
The Bible will continue its journey through Korean until May 3O when a representative from the Chinese Union Mission (CHUM) will come to Seoul to take the Bible to Taiwan, the first stop of the Bible in CHUM territories. Later it will circulate through Hong Kong before being handed over to the Mongolia Mission Field on June 11. From Mongolia Mission Field the Bible will be handed to the Japan Union Conference when a representative from JUC will take the Bible to Japan. At the exit program at the Okinawa Mission a representative from NSD will take the Bible to Sahmyook University on June 27, 2009 for the NSD exit worship program with Euro Asia Division president Pastor Artur Stele who will take the Bible to Vladivostok, Russia to begin its journey through the Euro Asia Division.
